Welcome to the New Year’s Eve edition of the Mentor Masterclass Holiday Challenge!  Our featured mentor is Vasavi Kumar, a certified coach and professionally trained vegetarian chef.

Today’s challenge will help you feel good about “shamelessly” promoting yourself. For many of us, talking about what we do can make us feel self-conscious and uncomfortable. But today’s interview will help you completely reframe the way you think about this. As a result, you’ll realize that talking about your business is actually an important act of service. In other words, it’s not “selfish,” it’s selfless.

Here’s another important question from today’s interview: How can you help people if no one knows how you help them?

Again, when you think about it differently like this, you realize that promoting your business can come from a place of service – and even responsibility.  Because as business owners it’s our responsibility to let people know about the resources that are available to help them.  Including you!

3. Reflect & Renew

Here is today’s question for reflection:

Take a few minutes to write down the different ways you are of service to others (or how you would like to be of service to others). Let that sink in for a minute.

Now let yourself see that letting others know you’re available is also an act of service.

Jot down any new insights you have about promoting yourself and your business.

NOTE: The chapter guides are provided in .docx, you may edit this document by typing directly into it using Word, or choose to save your reflections/answers in another format [i.e., Pages, notepad] that works for you.

Each chapter contains the questions for videos you’ve already watched during the week, to help reinforce and review what you’ve learned. This means you will need to keep track of your progress during the week using a regular Word or Pages document (or a written journal). Then simply follow the instructions inside the workbook when you receive it.

The workbook is also your scholarship application. To be considered for the full scholarship, follow the instructions inside the workbook. Make sure to email your completed workbook (all three chapters) between Sunday, January 3rd and Monday January 4th. The deadline to enter is Monday, January 4th, 5pm Eastern.

We’ll choose a scholarship winner and announce her name during the live wrap-up call in January.
