7 Days of Soulful Practices to Help You Become A Successful Life Coach:

What Does It Really Mean To “Walk Your Talk” In Your Business?

October 4th, 2016 | 1 comment

What does it mean to “walk your talk” as a life coach? If we’ve been hanging out for a while, you’ve probably heard me use the phrase many times! But how does it actually play out in your coaching practice?

Today we’re taking a sneak peek inside my all-in life premium life coach training course, Mentor Masterclass!

One of our beloved guest mentors, Alexis Neely, shares how she walks her talk in her own business.

Alexis graduated first in her class from Georgetown Law school and after three years in practice at one of the best law firms in the country, she started her own law practice and grew it into a million dollar a year generating business.

Today, she’s co-founder of New Law Business Model, which is transforming the way legal services are provided across the globe, and Eyes Wide Open Life, which teaches financial liberation as a path to sovereignty in the new/emerging economy.

If you haven’t met her yet, you’ll see in today’s video that Alexis is an incredibly generous mentor, opening up about how important it’s been for her to do her own work on herself.

Remember the old saying, “The cobbler’s kids have no shoes?” Meaning, it’s so easy to forget about applying your expertise to yourself. It can absolutely happen in your coaching business, too!

Alexis reminds us that when you’re doing your work for other people but then not doing it for yourself, you’re left with a feeling that your work doesn’t matter. And nothing could be further from the truth!

Before you know it, Alexis reminds us, you’ll start noticing people are not enrolling in your offerings or buying your programs and products.

When that happens, Alexis teaches us to stop and ask the tough question, Where am I not doing the work on myself?

And that’s what “walking your talk” is all about.

In today’s video you’ll also learn:

  • What it looks like for Alexis to walk her talk. And what will it look like for you? (1:55)

  • What it was like for Alexis during those years when she wasn’t walking her talk, and why she thought it would even help her professionally if she didn’t walk her talk. (2:34)

  • Exactly what Alexis does these days when she feels things slipping out of place in her business. (3:48)

After you’ve watched the video, think about how walking your talk might apply to your own business. Alexis has an attorney background, so a huge part of walking her talk is having sound legal agreements in place. How about you? For example, if you’re a health coach, are you eating healthy?

Are you using the tools you’re teaching your clients? I’d love to hear from you in the comments!

All my love,

  1. The wisdom shared was that when you do not Walk Your Talk, the products and services you give to the world lose value. The question I have for myself now, is: ‘where am I not walking my talk?’
