My Secret for Surviving the Holidays with Ease, Balance & Joy

December 23rd, 2015 | no comments

Happy Holidays, my love!

I’m really present to a holiday trend I see in myself and the women I support in Mentor Masterclass and The Sisterhood Mastermind.

Every year we look forward to the holiday season, and when it arrives, we get lost in the hustle and emotion of it all.  We become out of balance and disconnected from centered wholeness.  Our emotions are stirred easily and we succumb to triggers and a lack of self care. Have you ever felt this way?

I’m setting the intention and holding space to get over this cycle and open our hearts to deep belly laughs and “guilt free” whipped cream on top of every experience!

There’s a lot going on around the holidays. Family time opens us up to the vulnerable experience of our full emotional range.  The light and the dark.

We’re attuned to the things we feel we’re missing in our lives. And sometimes we have the intention of spending time with family, but then we end up fighting, feeling emotional, and bringing up past triggers.

In the middle of what can feel like chaos, the most important thing I’ve learned is to take care of myself first so I can show up grounded, from a balanced state of mind. Because deep down, I aspire to create more ease and connection. I try to focus on experiencing the joy that this time of year brings, rather than getting caught up in the hustle.

This year has been so special because I’ve been slowing down by participating in the Mentor Masterclass Holiday Challenge.

The Challenge is a beautiful reminder of the importance of self-care rituals from 24+ mentors who have something new to teach me, and my sisters from around the world, every day.

If you haven’t had a chance to join yet, it’s not too late.  I’d love for you to come and play along with me—it’s so much fun, and it’s free!

This time of year I make it a priority to set an intention before being around family, and take really good care of myself.  What do I need?

And something else I’ve learned: when we start slacking off on our self-care and our rituals, and putting others’ needs before our own, we become cranky and vulnerable. We find ourselves fighting, even with those we’ve been looking forward to connecting with, because we’re not in a very openhearted place.

Putting self-care first allows us to experience what the holidays are really about: love and connection with family, and bringing joy to one another.

Expanding our softness so we can enter a new year from a place of readiness to attract and achieve our wildest, sexiest, most deservable, dreams.

Speaking of sharing joy with loved ones, one of my favorite parts about the holidays is getting back in touch and connecting with people I haven’t seen in awhile.

Before launching my life coach training program, Mentor Masterclass I was devoted to pursuing a career on Broadway.

That’s how I met the beautiful and talented Katie Rain.

We took advantage of pursuing our dreams in the big city before Katie moved to San Francisco, where she’s become a hugely successful infant photographer.

Katie recently came out and did a photoshoot to capture the cuteness and early smiles of baby Violet! And I must admit she is quite a captivating beauty to behold.  Dontcha think?

We had such an incredible time. Katie and I still have special traditions that keep us connected, no matter how far away we are, through every life transition. It was so amazing to share this tender moment with one of my very best friends.

Her photography is incredible and nothing will make you feel more cheerful than looking through her portfolio of adorable infants. She’ll be back on the East Coast in April and is available in San Fran year round if you have family moments you desire to capture.

Here are the pictures from that photoshoot.

I hope that they inspire and remind you to take care of yourself first today, so you are fully present to lean in with friends and family over the holiday season (and throughout the new year).

HAPPY HOLIDAYS SISTERS! I love you, fiercely!
